merchants

Wed., Feb. 17, 2016 –  7:00 p.m.

Meyers Park Baptist Church – Youth Hall (entrance off Roswell Avenue)

We’re partnering with Myers Park Baptist Church Earth Keepers to show the film “Merchants of Doubt”, a troubling story of how a cadre of influential scientists have clouded public understanding of scientific facts to advance a political and economic agenda.

The film will be followed by a discussion on “dark money” that operates in North Carolina, and how it is impacting decisions being made right now about our state’s environment and natural resources. Join us and invite your friends!

This informative and entertaining documentary reveals the strategies of manipulation used by corporations to spread misinformation to American citizens. These tactics can delay progress on important issues such as toxic chemicals and global climate change. Big Oil companies appear to be attempting to protect their profits by encouraging doubt and confusion.

Filmmaker Robert Kenner was inspired by the book, Merchants of Doubt, by Naomi Oreskes and Erik Conway. Britten Cleveland, Chapter Organizer, NC Sierra Club, will facilitate a discussion after the film.

This event is hosted by Myers Park Baptist Church Earth Keepers. The public is invited to attend.
